Jacky Winter

Microeca fascinans pallida

Description:

This cute little fluff ball has a white chin, throat and body. It has a gray head which extends down its back and wings. The beak is black and the legs are black as well. I think also the eye is black.

Habitat:

In bushland on the edge of wetlands.

Notes:

It was a single bird (I didn't notice any other bird companions) and didn't mind me getting quite close to photograph it. Thank you Mark for the identification! Reference: The Michael Morcombe eGuide to Australian Birds, Mobile App. Reference: http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b...

Awesome...Thanks Mark! They are known here in the Kimberley - a subspecies to yours.

Looks about right to me. Are they known in around Derby? Here's one I found last year in NSW http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/372...
