Viscid Violet Cort

Cortinarius sp.

Description:

Cortinarius iodes or Cortinarius iodeoides. The cap was slimy and vibrant purple with some lighter and darker spots. The gills were light brown and the spores that fell on the stipe were also brown as you can see in photos 2 & 3. Pale purple to white stipe.

Habitat:

Mixed forest with lots of white pine and some oak, birch, and hemlock
