Ploceus philippinus
nest of babui
Please consider adding this spotting tot he Animal Architecture mission at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8082...
The 3 Weavers found in India are Black-breasted, Streaked and Baya. When the Weavers have finished other finches often take over the nests and often they get so full that they fall off the tree, sometimes with hilarious results!
These are typical Weaver's nests, Sparrow-like birds with varying amounts of yellow in their plumage, especially the males. Latin name is Ploceus xxxxxxx, there being 4 species in the SE Asia list. I cannot tell from this picture which one it is. Can I assume Babui is the Indian name for Weaver?
