Pterois volitans
The lionfish are part of the scorpion fish family which are infamous for the venomous spines on the tips of their fins. Like the other scorpion fish the lion fish are ambush predators. On the east coast of the US these fish are becoming a massive problem as pet fish have been released and become a highly detrimental invasive species that has massive impact on local coastal ecosystems.
Coral reefs
These individuals were part of a large gathering of lion fish. I think they might have been males fighting for territory. There were probably six or seven all together.
