Darkling beetles?

Tenebrionidae?

Description:

About 5 of these were under a log at the base of a large eucalyptus tree. About 20mm long. Most ran away immediately but two refused to budge. They seemed too focussed on something. Reviewing pics at home revealed one with it's 'jaws' munching into a moist looking rootlet.

Habitat:

Under a cut log at a local nature reserve.

Notes:

Yet to search for species.... slight flares on pronotum ??
