Description:

Mazzaella splendens is a deep purplish seaweed that shimmers in the light like oil sheen.

Habitat:

Spotted at low tide at Tongue Point Marine Sanctuary It prefers semi-exposed lower intertidal habitats where it anchors to rocks with a small discoid holdfast.
