Brimstone

Gonepteryx rhamni

Description:

Relatively large (approx 7cm in wingspan) butterfly, light green in colour.

Habitat:

Just after our holidays on Adriatic coast and first trek across few tops of Jura mountain, one of the rare creatures I came was this beauty here. This is in pastures and rocky escarpments above the treeline (above 1500m). This year, unlike previous years, the entire area is very, very, very dry, and pastures appears almost burnt down.
