Description:

The American dog tick is now prevalent in Washington state. This is the fourth or fifth one I've found in Kittitas County in the last two years.

Habitat:

Spotted at Helen McCabe State Park. Thick shrubs next to Wilson creek.

Nasty beasts!! How big was this, Brian? And am I correct in thinking it's only the females that engorge? Wiki doesn't answer either of these world-shattering questions.
