A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Coluber constrictor priapus
There were two black racers under a board behind the dunes in Cape Lookout National Seashore, NC. The second snake wasn't seen until the board was lifted up... they were all wrapped up together under the only cover object in the area.
Throughout its range, this snake favors wooded areas, brush and thickets.

Indeed MaryLou! I am so happy to have found this place. Feel right at home :)
Thank you SandraH! It's so nice to have a community of people who appreciate all things wild... not just the cute and fuzzy!
great catch and a wonderful collection overall. Reptiles and amphibians deserve credit too! They are fascinating. Thanks for sharing.
My bad. That should say 'these guys'.
This guy was a little cooperative also. Nice photos!
Ashish, I thought that was what was probably going down under that board... I felt pretty bad about it because I'm pretty sure we totally killed the mood.
Wrapped with each other means mating...!!
Cool spotting..!!
Thank you both! And yes, I truly wish there were more appreciation for these amazing animals. Education and personal encounters are so important for changing peoples views on snakes :)
I agree with him ^^
Amazing Picture
I have a pet corn snake that I bring around with me showing him to people, even though he's a snake, people still love him :)
Great picture. More people need to appreciate snakes!
