Black-crowned Night Heron

Description:

Stocky bird. Red eyes, and short yellow legs.

Habitat:

Tree by the side of Kandy Lake, Sri Lanka. It was getting dark and the birds were coming back to roost when this one flew in. Sat of the branch for a little while, then landed on the water's edge and chased away a juvenile. Foraged there for a bit. Did not catch any dinner though.
