Unknown colorful mushroom 2 1/2 inches wide approx.
Wooded area on a hike at Beltzville State Park, Lehighton, PA
Hi Carol, please see my posting of a similar looking mushroom, Do you think its the same/similar......cheers
Is fun to see these mushrooms in US because I have also been finding very similar mushrooms here in belgium in the past weeks and indeed they seem very tasty for slugs and alike. I cannot find one that has not been already half eaten! (lol)
I never thought I would be interested in taking photos of mushrooms. It was accidentally. Thanks for your advice. I look forward in the future to have all angles. :)
No problem, Carol - just keep it in mind for further fungi spottings that for a reliable identification the gills and stem are basicly important.
I know it is also hard to get a decent shot of the gills without destroying the mushroom - so, please, always try to keep them alive.:)
These were my first mushroom photos and I was hiking more than searching for mushrooms. So I would snap one or two photos and go.
I'm not great with mushrooms but I think this is a species of Russula.
