Ants tending other smaller orangish insects (aphids?) in a display of mutualism whereby both species benefit from the relationship. The ants protect the aphids feeding on the sap of the host plant, and the aphids yield the waste product or byproduct "honey dew" as food for the ants. I am not certain what the white geometric structures are. Scale insects or egg masses, or something else.
Spotted on Alpina sp. (?) in large semi-urban yard & garden next to a disturbed remnant patch of forest.
