Small Winter Stonefly

Capniidae sp.

Description:

1/4 - 1/2 inch at the very most. Unique "fake" antennae at the back. Surprised to find a new insect at this late date in December. Saw 3 of these today. This was the largest. Others were 1/4 inch or less.

Habitat:

On the house in the Poconos

Notes:

I think a clue to identification is the unusual antennae in the back and the mandibles.

Thanks Karen! I knew this bug must have winter in its name. HA! Unfamiliar with this, but I did come across the name in my search of Caddisflies.
