Spotted at Kalapana, on recent (<30 year-old) lava; ʻōhiʻa lehua is a widespread Hawaiian native species which has evolved several varieties in different local conditions; this one has glabrous leaves. These trees, and their flowers may also be called simply lehua, or simply ʻōhiʻa.
