Giant Green Anemone

Anthopleura xanthogrammica

Description:

A relatively large polyp cnidarian. The oral disk is bright green in color, while the body is brown green. This is due to the symbiotic algae living in the animal's tissue. Its cnidocytes are harmless to non-allergic humans, as they can not penetrate the skin.

Habitat:

Intertidal zone anchored to hard surfaces.
