The Drone Fly is one of the best Honey bee mimics & is an important pollinator to many flowers & crops. Native to Europe, introduced to the U.S. in the late 1800s. The larvae are aquatic & are referred to as rat-tailed maggots because they have a highly specialized respitory appendage that resembles a long tail.
