Description:

Saturnia pyri, the giant peacock moth, is a Saturniid moth which is native to Europe. This species of moth typically feeds on the leaves of trees and shrubs, especially fruit trees. They are identified by their large size and colors of browns, greys, yellows, and the distinctive spots on the ridges of their wings. The pictured adult giant peacock moth was spotted near Trikeri village, Pagasitikos gulf, Greece.
