Tent- web spider's web

Description:

This web is not the usual ones we see. It is more Cradle or hammock-like; that too at two levels. Quite large.

Habitat:

The branch-like thing is rooted on the verge of a waterbody that was heavily infested with water hyacinth. It is being cleared little by little. The web is poised over open water.

Thank you, John and Mark. I had seen smaller versions of these webs in my garden but this one was large and poised so strategically above the water that I could be forgiven for thinking the spider wanted to catch some fish!

The web looks very much like that of a Dome Spider (sometimes called Tent Web Spider) - Cyrtophora sp. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrtophora...
