From across the hill it looked like a large nest of dried leaves very distinctly an ovalish formation against the green leaves of the tall tree. The depth also fits the description of an avian nest.
Returning back from Rocky Island near Suntaley Khola which is a remote hilly and forested area by the River Murty in the Dooars region of West Bengal, India, I made the driver stop to take a couple of shots...
The strange thing is that ALTHOUGH the shape looks like a nest the top is also covered as if no bird ever sat on it. Is it a nest at all...and if not why should the leaves have dried out in the shape of a nest? I am curious...can any one help? I do not think it is large enough for a mammalian sleeping nest...but hey! maybe. Help!

Thanks Ava...so it IS animal architecture...not just a jumble of dry leaves blown by wind...I'll let it stay then. Many thanks.
Or an arthropod lives under the leaves?
Maybe it's a spider web covered with leaves that have stuck to it.
