Indo-Chinese Roller

Coracias affinis

Description:

Crown and edges of wings are a dark, deep-blue. Legs are yellowish as is the bill. The chest is dark.

Habitat:

On the top of a pillar in an ancient temple at Ayutthaya, (near Bangkok) in Thailand. This place is now almost a city about an hour and a half's drive north of Bangkok. These ruins are scattered all over the bustling city (or large town). The temple/ruin completes are set amidst lots of greenery and sometimes, water bodies. I was torn between my love for history and for biodiversity...but managed to tick both boxes. saw some nice birds and at least one reptile. This bird was sitting so high I initially thought it was a sunbird!

Notes:

It sang too. Not a very musical bird. https://ebird.org/species/indrol3/TH-14
