Description:

This white waterbird has a large yellow bill and a messy black crest on its head. The mottled grey young standing nearby stands with its probable parent until it is pushed into independence.

Habitat:

On a rocky sandstone reef in a Port Phillip Bay nature sanctuary among a large group of other waterbirds, mainly silver gulls.
