Jewel Beetle -2

Castiarina erythroptera

Description:

A lycid beetle look-alike only much bigger (about 15 mm long) and more robust with beautiful ribbed red elytra. A long black marking shaped like an upside down arrow with blunt head was seen along the inner elytral margins when the wings were closed.
Thorax, head, legs and antennae were all black. The thorax had symmetrical bulges on either side of midline. Black eyes were large.

Habitat:

Spotted on broom tea-tree ( Leptospermum scoparium)
