This is the same spider which was shown in https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/61...... I returned to its web today, for two reasons. The first was that I did not get a ventral photo last time because of a number of very sharp Spiny Bamboo twigs which barred acces to the back of the web. This time I brought secateurs and my first picture above is the result.. The second reason was that I wanted to see if the spider had improved its web decoration. As you can see in the second picture it looks even less impressive.
This spider was spotted in the rice mill backyard. Its web was on a Spiny Bamboo (Bambusa bambos) which is known in the Philippines as Kauayan-tinik. Plant info. from - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Kauayan.htm......
When I looked at the previous spotting side-by-side with this one, I saw immediately that the marks on the carapace had become much darker and there were some (very minor) changes in the shape of these marks. So, I think that the spider had probably moulted in the three days since I first spotted it.
