@Michael 69 and hudwit - I am so sorry. I should have changed this long ago but I haven't been on this site in many months due to family health issues (which are improving)
I had sent it to NY DEC and the Chief Zoologist of the New York Natural Heritage Program corrected my ID and was even kind enough to recommend a guide to help me ID in the future.
Many thanks to you for the correction.
Thank you Karen! I am so glad you are highlighting this problem so many of us have witnessed in nature. I'm sorry I haven't been on lately but I do plan to be back in the next week or two. I miss seeing all of the wonderful and fascinating spottings from this amazing community.
Thanks Ryan. It was hard to follow around my yard - I initially thought they were the same bird but I think you're right. Perhaps one was an adult & the other a juvenile - they seemed to be flying together. I'm with you - sparrows are tough to ID! :-)
Many thanks Ava!
I agree, great series Ava!
Great series! I'd love to see one in person someday.
Thanks, Emma - they're among my favorite birds.
Wow! Amazing images.
I agree - beautiful!
