A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Thank you for your suggestion. I think it is probably Sticky False Asphodel, but was hoping someone would confirm this.
Great spotting!
Fabulous! Are you aware of The Great Slime Mold race held at the Massachusetts General Hospital Lab on May 16, 2014? They raced slime mold cells and leukemia cells thru a maze. Slime molds may help us understand cancer cells.
Although called the Eastern Kingbird, it also nests here in British Columbia along the Alouette River and on the Pitt Polder. Always a welcome sight when we are out bird watching.
I think it's a ground cone - possibly Boschniakia -
Hi Birdboy - great shot! I read that this mink does eat some birds. I think ground-nesting birds would be in danger.
Thanks Miles - I'm just starting to learn about moss.
Thank you for your comments. We find the strangest things hiking the trails of the Fraser Valley.
Has this little bird been injured?
