A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
I am always looking to photograph, identify, and learn about organisms. Please ask permission before using any photos. Project Noah Ranger

Sign In to followCould be... I don't know Louisiana plants. There are something like 10 species of Sagittaria there. If you go down the Wikipedia link I added and see their ranges you will see. S. latifolia is the one that pops up when you google the genus and Louisiana, but there are several others you can look into.
Thanks Brian! I was torn between a few species but that one seems to have vouchered specimens from Ocala so I think I'll tentatively label it with that species. I might have to go take a sample and send it to an herbarium because I am so curious
Thanks! Maybe I should collect some and send it in to an herbarium
Hi Chris, you have to drag and drop the pin on the map to get it to the correct location if it doesn't pick up the metadata from the photos.
Amazing photo and find! Both creatures are so fantastic
Wow that's great! You should also share with the Facebook group Lichens Connecting People if you're interested in sharing. There's a lot of good lichenologists on it.
Thanks for the ID soma and hope the issue gets cleared up!
I second Brian's comment Sukanya! There are lichens everywhere! Even Antarctica. I am sure once you look, you will see them in more places than you could have imagined.
