The world is a much more engaging place when you know what you're seeing. My profile photo is a paper-cut mask of a samurai ant ...

Sign In to followNice job, Stephen ... what a great find!
Catching up. The last pic in this series is not as good as the others ... but I thought it might be the female?
Thank you, ForestDragon! Now that I know what difference I'm looking for, I see you are quite right. I'll make the correction.
Hi, Fullmoon, always glad to see new people joining PN! There are a few wood sorrel leaves in your photo, but I think the larger plant in the center might be Hairy Bittercress, Cardamine hirsuta. See what you think ... and happy spotting!
Looking online a bit more. This might be Banded Sphinx Moth, Eumorpha fasciatus, instead ... any moth experts?
Thank you, ChiefRedEarth ... so tiny, so fascinating.
Wonderful photos, Sunny ...
Thank you, Stephen, very kind of you to say ...
Saw two more of these this afternoon ... same location. All hatching out at about the same time, perhaps.
