Hi Pizor. This is a Wheel Bug, named for the cog-shaped protuberance on its back. A kind of assassin bug, shy and retiring, but it can deliver a painful bite. I think only one species is found in North America ... Arilus cristatus.

Hi, Fullmoon, always glad to see new people joining PN! There are a few wood sorrel leaves in your photo, but I think the larger plant in the center might be Hairy Bittercress, Cardamine hirsuta. See what you think ... and happy spotting!

Looking online a bit more. This might be Banded Sphinx Moth, Eumorpha fasciatus, instead ... any moth experts?
