A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
I love nature, both local in my city and far away! My focus is birds and plants.

I don't know how much variation is expected from moth to moth of the same species.
Slugs are not arthropods (bugs), they are in the other category, along with snails, worms, clams, jellyfish, sea stars, etc.
This looks like a lichen and that means it is a plant and not fungus.
I think you are right. Images online march what I remember and the picture (it's low quality because the light was bad). Termite - noooo, I wish I had ran it over with my bike, instead of swerving in the last moment.
Oh cool! I have heard of fireweed, even seen it from afar on Mt.Rainier - so I thought it was a mountain plant. I had not seen it close up before - I guess now I have!
The most common species of squirrel you will see in the greater Seattle area are the grey squirrel. They are invasive species. The native species are harder to spot - I have seen a brown squirrel a few times, but I am not sure if there is black one. Alternately this could be a grey one in really bad lighting. Do you have a picture without any filters/modifications?
