Verreaux's (Black) Eagle

Aquila verreauxii

Description:

It is black with a distinct white V marking on its back. The beak is bright yellow. Its wingspan is about 2.0 m.

Habitat:

This eagle lives in hilly and mountainous regions of southern and eastern Africa. Its nest is a huge stick-nest platform of about 1.5-2m diameter. The nest is usually situated on a cliff edge, rarely in a tree.

Also commonly called Black Eagle in Southern Africa.
