Alisterus scapularis
Grows to about 44cm, male is bright scarlet red with bright green wings with a paler blue/green sash down the wing evident when at rest, tail draker with blue sheen, beak buff. Females are green with mottled red on chest and under body. Piercing bell-like call and screech.
Found from north to south along eastern Australia in forests, woodlands and opne areas, known to migrate seasonally for breeding.
