Little Bride Underwing

Catocala micronympha

Description:

Grey mottled, tree bark mimicking moth with orange, viceroy-like accents on ventral wings (dorsal side). To the left of wing on the side profile photo, there is an indentation or crypt. Don't know if that's normative or from an injury. Approx. 1.25" wide and 1" long.

Notes:

Flew briefly into barn. Was photographed & released.

I'm thinking orifice on body (side profile pic) on ventral side of wing might be the ear or vibration sensing organ?
