Idioscopus clypealis
Apologies for the "fuzzy" photo, partly due to poor photographic skills, but also due to the fact that the tiny white nymphs are really very "fuzzy".
Spotted in the farm on a leaf of a Mango Tree (Mangifera indica Linn.) known in the Philippines as Mangang-kalabau. Plant information from - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Mangga.html...........
I posted a spotting of this species on Project Noah about two weeks ago - https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/91........ but the Leafhoppers shown there were all late instar nymphs and the infestation was not so great. The Mango Leafhoppers shown here appear to be various instars and there are two mature adults (indicated by the yellow arrows). These insects can cause serious damage to the Mango Trees which results in a great reduction in the number of fruits produced.. A Philippine government department has issued a technical bulletin which describes the damage done by these tiny hoppers. - https://bafs.da.gov.ph/bafs_admin/admin_...
