Chaffinch

Fringilla coelebs

Description:

Sparrow sized finch with somewhat longer tail. Male (pics 1 to 3) in winter have dull colours, becoming brighter and warmer as the seasons advance. Female in pics 4 and 5.

Habitat:

Observed in all of surveyed wetlands, eastern part of pays de Gex (between Jura range and Geneva lake) and always in wooded parts of them.

Notes:

Observed during the Wetlands Bird Count 2019 - not the target of the exercise, but noted however...
