A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Buteo jamaicensis
This thing was very difficult to capture but I got him. It is a Red-Tailed hawk they are named this due to the rusty color of the tail feathers. This one and it's possible mate were on high air petrol looking for grackles. They eat small birds, reptiles, small mammals like rats and mice. They are in the bird of prey family also known as the Raptor family.
They mainly live in areas that have wide open spaces like parks, and valleys, and heavily wooded areas.
