A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Athene Brama
They roost in small groups in the hollows of trees or in cavities in rocks or buildings. It nests in a hole in a tree or building, laying 3-5 eggs. This species is nocturnal but is sometimes seen in the day. When disturbed from their daytime site, they bob their head and stare at intruders. The call is a harsh and loud churring and chuckling chirurr-chirurr-chirurr ending with a chirwak-chirwak and they call mainly during early dawn or just after sunset
I found this Owl at a old home terrace, which is 120 years old. It was spotted before sunset. It appears quite early before sunset from many years. It is also surprisingly active in the morning hours and is seen is small holes of an old building. There are 3-4 owls in the area.
If you know that they are nesting in that wall, please consider adding this spotting to the Animal Architecture mission at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8082...
