This is sometimes called the Dodonea bug.
Yes, it is specific to that plant, uncertain how strictly.
I've seen it often enough and only on this plant or the ground.

Thanks for confirming Martin, there are a lot of Dodonea sp. in the reserve is the beetle host specific?

Its a jewel bug and somewhat variable.
I have seen a hop bush with many of this form

It is certainly Choerocoris paganus,

Does Look very similar Deepti, seems to be some variation in the patterning of Choerocoris paganus making it difficult to be sure of the I.D. Your suggestion definitely narrows it down though. Cheers!
