Virginia Woolybear

Spilosoma virginica

Description:

A very pale woolly-bear type, with very long hairs. This was an extraordinary year for woolly bears in my garden, with up to a dozen congregating on a single plant.

Habitat:

Garden in mixed woods. The woolly-bears ate a great many plants, although they seemed to favor elderberry when they could get it.

Notes:

ID'd by the nice people at BAMONA.org
