Owlet Moth

Penicillaria maculata

Description:

A moth with a bent tail. Penicillaria maculata and other Euteliinae moths from the Noctuidae family has been known to bend their abdomen. It's main color is dark violet and brown. Wings have light brown lines with white marks. Body length about 2cm.

Habitat:

Kundasang rainforest, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

1st photograph taken from my dad. The moth purposely bend it's abdomen for unknown reason. >>>Map accuracy : 30m diameter.
