approx size - 84cm/33" ;slender and slim necked heron;dark blue-grey above, with a yellowish bill; black crown and striking rich chestnut-rufous face and neck with a black stripe on either side; chestnut flanks; black belly easy to confuse with Goliath Heron, its darker, smaller and paler billed.
