Hoogmoed's Harlequin Toad

Atelopus hoogmoedi

Description:

active during the day, females up to 38mm, found far from water, photos 4 & 5 show a different pattern

Habitat:

rainforest at 500m, found in the Guianas and Brazil

Notes:

I spotted this spectacular toad a few times in Brownsberg Nature Park. I was just walking down a trail and they would be right on the trail, not near any streams or water source. It was the short rainy season and a few different amphibian species wander far from water during this time.
