Grey Shrike-thrush

Colluricincla harmonica

Notes:

I encountered this very cheeky (and cute!) bird foraging on the ground at Harry's Hut in the Cooloola Recreation Area (Great Sandy National Park). It was quite bold and came close to me a few times. It spent nearly the whole time hopping around on the ground. Thanks to bee.jacbs for the ID.

No problem Shanna. I used my field guide first, and then found the entry on EoL. Keep up the great spottings!

Thanks for the ID Bee! I looked at that species on Birds in Backyards but I didn't think the pictures looked right (see http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/species/...). Encyclopedia of Life is an exact match though, thank you!

These are such beautiful singers. I need to put up some photos of the Tasmanian sub-species for comparison. There's some question as to whether or not it has become so different as to be classed a separate species.
