Long-Horn Beetle

Neocompsa exclamationis

Description:

A red-brown Long-horn Beetle with yellow markings on the elytra. All the femora are swollen in the center. The thorax is elongate and cylindrical. It has a sparse covering of pale hairs. The last 2 pictures show its peculiar stance on leaves when at rest and is how I found the 2 individuals in the pictures. They measured 1.5 and 1.8 cm. Family Cerambycidae. Interestingly, there is a bright green variety of this species, see: https://apps2.cdfa.ca.gov/publicApps/pla....

Habitat:

Found on leaves, Chiflón Waterfall Park, Chiapas Mexico.
