Lesser Peachtree Borer

Synanthedon pictipes

Description:

Small moth with long body. Mostly shiny black with thin white stripes on thorax and wider part of abdomen. Clear wings.

Habitat:

Suburban backyard garden.

Notes:

My first Clearwing Moth! I didn't realize they came in such a small size. Apparently feeds mostly on wild cherry. Makes me wonder why they named "Peachtree".
