Melanitis leda
This butterfly belongs to the family Nymphalidae. Has two different forms in wet season and dry season. This specimen is of wet season form with clearly marked 'eye spots' on undersides of the wings. However these patterns are highly variable. The upper side is dull brown in color.
Spotted while feeding on rotten Jackfruit.
On the topmost eye spot of the submarginal area of the hind wing of this specimen, has another tiny ring merged to it, yet is not very prominent. The dry season from is spotted by fellow spotter @Nature_Observer - https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/21...
