Cabezon

Scorpaenichthys marmoratus

Description:

Met this Cabezon diving in Edmonds the other day. Definitely not shy as I was pretty much feeding him my camera! You can see how well camouflaged they are in picture 3.

Habitat:

Found in the shallow, rocky, kelp-bed waters off of the Pacific Coast of North America, running all the way from Baja to southern Alaska.

Notes:

These Cabezon tend to be shy and flee as soon as you get close. Since it's getting closer to breeding season they will become aggressive and multiple time I have been rushed and bumped by them.
