Green Stink Bug

Chinavia hilaris

Description:

Medium sized, bright green bug with a shield shaped body. When disturbed or threatened, this insect will emit a foul odor (hence the name "Stink Bug").

Habitat:

Rural yard.

Notes:

Attracted to the outside lights. Even though this guy (or gal) was hanging briefly on the cobwebs, the bug was not stuck and continued to fly and crawl around after letting go of the web.
