Grey Albatross

Description:

Saw this butterfly at dusk when it was settling down for the night. First photo is taken with flashlight. When it was flying the upper wings seemed to be mostly white, with some darker spots. The Grey Albatross is a member of the family Pieridae.

Habitat:

This butterfly is restricted to the Wet Tropics where it can often be seen along the edge of the rainforest feeding on flowers such as those of the Lantana.

possibly Appias melania (Grey Albatross), or one of the pearl-whites.
