Ant queen

Description:

At about exactly the same dimensions and appearance as the local ant species this looks something like a wasp. Approximately 15mm long.

Habitat:

On casuarina in suburban backyard.

Notes:

Thanks to Juan di Trani for guidance. It's a poor photo but as it is an ant queen I probably won't be getting another specimen to replace for some time. Yet to search for species ID.

Exactly. In fact when queens and kings emerge of the mother nest they both have wings, but eventually they lost them

Fantastic Juan. Thanks for that. I guess that explains why it is so similar to our local ant species :)
