Olive Oysterling

Sarcomyxa serotina (aka Panellus serotina)

Description:

Growing clustered on a deciduous stump. Chris Yeates on WAB thinks it's definitely S. serotina http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/forums... . It looks similar to: http://www.rogersmushrooms.com/gallery/D... The third picture has some Velvet Shank on the right.

I've got a lot of this fruiting right now in my backyard, growing on dead red alder, and I spotted some in Seattle recently as well. I believe that Panellus serotinus is the id we settled on.
