Bell Miner

Manorina melanophrys

Description:

Olive green bird with orange feet and beak, dark eye.

Habitat:

Rainforest trail between Grand Staircase and Golden Staircase in the Blue Mtns. Their tinkling bells followed us for a long way. Clinging to vies and gleaning insects.

Notes:

see the video on the wiki page for the vocalization and rapid movements that started us on the search for this flock of birds. Really hard to photograph with the constant motion, but really fun to listen to and watch.

Thanks, kd. The memory of their call is very special.

Lucky you were able to get a close shot. They are usually seen and not heard, but the call is beautiful echoing through the forest.
